What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims, where Muslims all over the world will fast from fajr or when the sun rises until maghrib, or dawn time when the sunset. Maybe you ever heard about fasting during Ramadan, when Muslims refrain from thirst and hunger and of course from sin as well. Ramadan is like a deen camp, with a religious atmosphere, and without realizing makes us more motivated to worship Allah
Ramadan is one of the months that has a lot of benefits. Other than fasting, there is tarawih sunnah prayer that actually helps us to train to do night prayer. Aside from that, there is Laylatul Qadr night where if you pray during that night, the reward you will get will be multiplied just like we pray during 1000 months. It’s amazing, isn’t it? The more amazing this is during this month every good deed we do, sadaqah or charity, helping other people, doing sunnah prayer, and many more, our rewards will be multiplied so many times! MashaAllah!
When is Ramadan?
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Hijri calendar. It starts right when the moon starts to appear on the horizon after Jumadil Akhir ended and ended with the arrival of 1 Shawal which is one of the days Muslims celebrate, the Eid Aha.. so that means Ramadan month is 30 or 31 days? The answer is, no. As we know, the Hijri calendar is a calendar based on the appearance of the moon. The time for each month will not be sure and exactly the same as mothers day, labor day, etc. The beginning and the ending of Ramadan, or during the Hijri calendar more precisely, is counted based on the movement of the moon to rotate to the earth, or in science, we called it as moon revolution. This period of one crescent moon to another crescent moon takes around 29.5 days, so this is the closest one to the answer.
What to prepare before Ramadan?
This is a very good step to start welcoming Ramadan. Ready to welcome Ramadan? Sahabi event began to start the preparation for the next Ramadan right after Ramadan ends, amazing right? This is because Ramadan is one of the best months to multiply our rewards. The best preparation will give the best results as well, so here’re several things you have to start preparing:
- Physical preparation Find out what activities you need to do during Ramadan, aside from the normal daily activities (study, work, etc) you’re going to do during Ramadan. There are sahoor, fasting, iftar, tarawih, sadaqah, and other sunnah deeds. For anyone who has their first Ramadan and is not used to waking up very early for sahoor, refrain from thirst and hungry until the sun set, then do tarawih prayer, these activities may take a lot of energy. Make sure to eat enough food during suhoor and iftar, not too much, enough rest, and light exercise to keep your body fit
- Mental Preparation Finding out all of the benefits and rewards for the prayer and worship we’re going to get during Ramadan is the only way to prepare your mind. Prepare your mind and soul as well. Finding out the benefits and rewards inshAllah will motivate us more. If it’s needed, make several good deeds, and prayers we’re going to do in detail as our target. How many ayah and surah or even juz of Quran we’re going to finish during Ramadan, how many rakaah of night prayer we are going to do, how many surah or ayah of Quran we’re going to memorize, spare your time to hear our beloved ulama talk, and many more. Make sure to have a big will to win the grand prize, the multiplied rewards during Ramadan. Listening to the talk from a syeikh, ulama, listening about hadith that talks about the act during Ramadan also could help as well
- Financial Preparation Does it mean money? Yes, of course Sadaqah that we do aside from Ramadan will get a lot of rewards from Allah, moreover during Ramadan. From Hadith Bukhari and Muslim, the generosity of our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH is more than the blowing wind You could make a daily or weekly program. Give food for iftar to your neighbor, infaq in the masjid during fajr prayer, and saving drinks in your bag to share with other Musafir during your traveling could be a good idea to do during Ramadan later. Make sure you have enough funds to do that. So there’s nothing wrong to start saving from now to do those good acts later in Ramadan
Have you imagined how busy and festive Ramadan is? You still have time to prepare everything. Good preparation will give good results as well inshAllah. Ramadan Mubarak! Hope your Ramadan will be amazing!
