Alhamdulillah, finally we reach Shawal. A month that started with a holy day after we fasted for 30 days in Ramadan. This year, the Eid celebration feels so much greater and more cheerful than in the past two years due to the pandemic in the whole world. The happiness so much felt in every corner of the place. Maybe these past 2 years of longing busted out along with the border’s opening in a lot of places. And it’s time to meet our long-time no-see family!
In Indonesia, we celebrate Eid with so many wonderful things. Fireworks, cookies and so many different cultural things in every place. “Takbir keliling”, that’s what we called for circling out the city during the parade, and saying Takbir with the speaker is one of the things I’m looking forward to. We waited to watch the joyful parade on the side of the street while takbir kept resounding all night long
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, the sound resounding into the deepest of the heart
Shawal is coming and we have left Ramadhan. The celebration only lasts for a short time. Then, what’s next?
Do you still pray 5 times a day?
Do you still do sadaqah, do sunnah deeds still on your target list?
Have you evaluated your Ramadhan? What did you miss and what will you do next?
For The Sahaba(Companions) Rahimahullah, it’s a sad thing when Ramadan is gone. Being separated from the special month with uncertainty, whether we could meet the next Ramadhan or not. And by the end of Ramadhan, it doesn’t mean all of our good deeds have been done as well.
In Ramadhan, we practiced doing night prayer and Ramadhan motivated us to give more sadaqah, read more Quran, and do many other good deeds. We only hope that Allah blesses everything we do because we know that every single deed will be multiplied by Allah. When Ramadhan passed, that’s when the results of our practice in Ramadhan were tested. Are we able to keep doing it and keep istiqomah? Or back to zero? Will we stop, back to our routine before the Ramadhan, or will we run forward, keep track, and even increase our performance every other day until we meet the next Ramadhan and become the more high quality of ourselves?
The choices are on us. Does the Eid celebration become our finish line or become the starter line of our iman’s journeys?
If you feel that Eid is the start of the days to prove whether your Ramadhan is a success or not, you will never waste every single time doing good deeds
Istiqamah, even for the simplest things. Continue doing what you’ve done in Ramadhan, take a note, evaluate, muhasabah dan start doing it tomorrow
Maybe you could start with daily morning sadaqah or read your favorite Tafseer of ayah Quran in the afternoon. Do it, do it, and keep doing it until it becomes a habit
Keep trying to make Ramadhan give you a long-lasting impression, year after year until finally, you can change yourself to be a better you the next time.
Eid Mubarak 1443H 🙂
